    PV stats

I somehow missed the stats for PV from Saturday's game. Anyone know how many yards Myron had? Passing yards? etc. Thanks.

Not sure but here is the write up on the game

    [ QUOTE ]
    BY TIM HAYES

    Bristol Herald Courier

BIG STONE GAP "? Honaker running back Logan Ball displayed his explosiveness Saturday afternoon. But Powell Valley's offense proved it had more firepower.

Quarterback Cedric Mitchell threw for three scores and rushed for another, while Myron Pinkston accounted for three touchdowns in Powell Valley's 40-14 victory over Honaker in the Region D, Division 2 semifinals at Bullitt Park.

Powell Valley (8-3) will play Clintwood, a 17-16 winner over Haysi in the other semifinal, in next Saturday's Region D, Division 2 championship game.

Honaker finished its season at 6-5.

Ball, a 6-foot-3, 177-pound junior, finished with 184 yards on the ground and his 15-yard touchdown run and Justin Hall's ensuing extra point gave Honaker a 7-6 lead with 9:35 left in the second quarter.

However, Powell Valley responded quickly when Mitchell scored on a 55-yard run just 70 seconds after Ball's score. In fact, the Vikings scored 33 points in the second quarter, including Mitchell's 20-yard scoring toss to Delmas Lawson just 11.1 seconds before halftime.

"The pass was killing us," Ball said. "It seemed like as soon as we scored they would come right back at us."

Mitchell once again displayed his versatility on Saturday. He threw TD passes to three different receivers and also made several big runs.

"He works good in the pocket," Pinkston said. "But if things break down, he can find a way to get out."

The emergence of Pinkston has also been big for the Vikings during their six-game winning streak. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound freshman blends speed and power and has also proven he can catch the ball out of the backfield.

"We're playing pretty good and to the best of our ability," Pinkston said. "Our line's starting to block better and we're playing more as a team."

Pinkston punctuated Powell Valley's win with a 15-yard TD run with 8:24 left in the game. The win and the impressive performance came on the same day he celebrated his birthday.

"[Powell Valley coach Phil Robbins] told us just not to let up or anything and just play hard the whole time," Pinkston said. "He gave us a speech at halftime and told us just to put the nail in the coffin and that's what we did."

Ball stood at midfield following Saturday's loss in a mud-caked uniform. He rushed for over 1,300 yards and scored 14 touchdowns in a breakout season. In fact, the whole season could be classified as a breakout season for the Tigers' youthful team.

"We weren't expected to do much at all coming into the season after losing 18 seniors," Ball said. "You have to be disappointed, but we still came a long way."

Sounds like Ball will be a player to watch for teams playing Honaker in the future. What grade is he in?

Ball is a very sound RB. He's the only kid I've seen this year who came close to running over Murphy (course, Murphy paid him back in full later on!).
